GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS:

For all positions below, candidate must be a legal US citizen or valid Green Card holder, have a driver license (except where indicated otherwise), and have reliable transportation to easily get to/from Newark Airport where most of the work will be performed (M-F, 6am – 3 pm, with some weekends requested, and have a flexible schedule for any required change in weekly work schedule), be available to start December 6, 2021 and available for the entire time between December 6, 2021 through April 22, 2022 (except where indicated otherwise). Must be flexible because this time frame may change slightly, be able to stand for long periods of time, be comfortable and flexible with any sudden reasonable changes in work assignments, be punctual, courteous, a people person, be a great team player, and able to follow instructions well. The positions below will only be from 4-6 months, with higher than minimum wage pay that is based on experience.

1. Trials Baggage Supervisor

Basic Requirements: Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of work experience in a supervisory role in airport baggage handling. Must be able to adequately manage a team of 20 people in airport baggage handling. Must be able to work well with other people, be punctual, professional, must have experience and be proficient in day-to-day use of computer systems and the Internet, and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver license. Be willing to attend 2-week paid training. Must have working computer, reliable internet and phone at home to be able to work from home during working hours when not working onsite at the Newark Airport, and/or for remote training. Previous TSA (Transportation Security Administration) TSO (Transportation Security Officer) staff or management experience, or other airport baggage experience, desired!

Required experience and skills:
• Experience in team leading role.
• Knowledge of airport processes is an advantage and a plus
• Proficient user skills on standard PC software applications
• Working knowledge of logistics environment.
• Proficient in English.
• Good communications skills
• Ability to work unsupervised

Job Description:

The Trials Baggage Supervisor will attend a 2-week training by the Manager, and will plan the activities and coordinate a team of 20 baggage handlers to support the requirements of each passenger trial session. The Trials Baggage Supervisor will be responsible for managing and coordinating between himself and a team of 20 baggage handlers the following responsibilities during 26 trial operation days:

• Prepare trial bags, pre-labeling when necessary
• Transport baggage from storage areas to defined location at airport terminal (e.g., Check-in, Aircraft stands, baggage claim in feed lanes)
• Collection of baggage at aircraft parking positions
• Daily count baggage per flight / total
• Removal and disposal of bag tags
• Check baggage for damages
• Management of bag repairs (minor damages)
• At end of each trail day, transport baggage back to storage area
• Other logistical tasks will be required on non-trial days (e.g., printing of baggage tags / preparation of baggage set-up for next day

Pay rate: Temporary Full-time (4-6 months, M-F), $65-$70 per hour, with some overtime possibly available

2. Trials Baggage Handler (20 positions available)

Basic Requirements: Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to e.g., take instructions and follow directions well from the Trials Baggage Supervisor. Must be able to work well with other people and as a team – be a good team player, be punctual, professional, must have experience and be proficient in day-to-day use of computer systems and the Internet, and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver license. Be willing to attend 1-week paid training. Must have working computer, reliable internet and phone at home to be able to work from home during working hours when not working onsite at the Newark Airport, and/or for remote training. Previous airport baggage handling experience is a PLUS!

Required experience and skills:

• Previous experience in baggage handling is an advantage and a plus
• Proficient user skills on standard PC software applications
• Proficient in English
• Good communications skills
• Physically fit with the ability to handle heavy baggage up to 50 lbs.

Job Description:

The Trials Baggage Handler will attend a 1-week paid training conducted by the Trials Baggage Supervisor or the Manager, and will work with a team of 20 others who are in the same role. The Trials Baggage Handler will work with a team, under the direction of the Trials Baggage Supervisor, to be responsible for the following duties:

• Prepare trial bags (numbering, revision of filling, introduction of trigger plates, etc.)
• Transport baggage from storage areas to defined location at airport terminal (e.g., Check-in, Aircraft stands, baggage claim in feed lanes)
• Pre-label baggage, when necessary
• Conduct baggage in-feed at check-in, transfer lanes, and in-feed lanes, according to agreed timings
• Collect baggage at specific airside areas
• Count baggage per flight / total daily
• Remove and dispose of bag tags
• Check baggage for damages
• At end of each trail day, transport baggage back to storage area
• Other logistical tasks will be required on non-trial days (e.g., printing of baggage tags / preparation of baggage set-up for next day)

Pay rate: Temporary Full-time (4-6 months, M-F), $40-$45 per hour, with some overtime possibly available

3. Lead Trials Passenger Coordinator & Deputy Manager

Basic Requirements: Must have at least an Associate’s Degree and at least 3-5 years of work experience in corporate environment. Must have experience in a managerial role, managing and/or giving direction to teams of employees. Must be able to adequately manage a team of
3 – 5 people who will work as Trials Passenger Coordinators. Must be able to work well with other people, have good written and spoken communications skills, be punctual, professional, must have experience and be proficient in day-to-day use of computer systems and the Internet, must be comfortable working around large amounts of people, think quickly on your feet, and must be comfortable with and able to multi-task well. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have working computer, reliable internet and phone at home to be able to work from home during working hours when not working onsite at the Newark Airport, and/or for remote training. Be willing to attend 2-week paid training. Must have some event planning and logistics management experience. Knowledge of airport processes is a big Plus!

Job Description:

The Lead Trials Passenger Coordinator & Deputy Manager will attend a 2-week training conducted by the Manager, and will manage and give direction to a team of 3-5 Trial Passenger Coordinators, all of whom – including the Lead Trials Passenger Coordinator & Deputy Manager – will be responsible for and manage the coordination of approximately 5,800 trial passengers (divided up over the course of multiple trial days) prior to and during the passenger trials. S/he will also support the Manager, and assume role of Manager in the event of absence of Manager regarding trials responsibilities. The Lead Trials Passenger Coordinator & Deputy Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating between him/herself and a team of 3-5 Trial Passenger Coordinators for the following duties:

• Perform as Deputy Manager in the event of absence of the Manager
• Manage Trial Passenger Coordinators
• Receive and direct trial passengers after arrival to Airport Terminal for trials
• Support registration and handout of material and trial badges
• Provide instructions to Trial Passengers
• Provide guidance to Trial Passengers for their starting points
• Supervise the initiation of trial events, according to the trial scenario
• Supervise, assist, and accompany Trial Passengers during trials
• Gather passengers at the end of trials
• Collect feedback forms, vests and badges at the end of trials
• Perform de-registration of Trial Passengers
• Assist hotline for Trial Passengers’ requests
• On non-trial days:
o Prepare for trial days
• Keep Trial Passenger materials organized (badges, vests, event cards, etc.)
o Provide analysis of Trial Passenger feedback
o Prepare event cards

4. *Trials Passenger Coordinator (15 positions available)

*NOTE: 15 of same position available, as follows: Position1 – 8 wks., M-F (1 opening); Position2 – 7 wks., 2 days each week (4 openings); and Position3 – 1 day (10 openings)

Basic Requirements:
Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3-5 years of work experience in a professional environment. Must be able to work well with others as a team and be a team player, have good written and spoken communications skills, be punctual, professional, must have experience and be proficient in day-to-day use of computer systems and the Internet, must be comfortable working around large amounts of people, think quickly on your feet, and must be comfortable with and able to multi-task well. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have working computer, reliable internet and phone at home to be able to work from home during working hours when not working onsite at the Newark Airport, and/or for remote training. Be willing to attend 2-week paid training. Knowledge of airport processes, and some experience as an event planner or coordinator, and/or experience in logistics, are a big Plus!
